In the water they can’t see you cry
In this book is the memoir or biography of Amanda Beard; that at the age of fourth teen walked at the Atlanta Olympics and left with two silvers and a gold medal. She has participated in three olympics having a total of 7 medals and also having a modeling career. Despite of all the success going in her life she felt unworthy of all of it. She was suffering from depression and she hid the pain behind fake smiles. In her late teens early twenties she became bulimic, and abused drugs and alcohol, also started to cut herself. Her low esteem brought her high-profile relationship with men in the sport world. No one knew about what was really happening to her. In this book she talks about how she struggled with depression, the pressure of being thin and the relationship she confused for love. In the book she also talks about how she gain the strength to live as bravely out of the water as she did in it.
